More than 250 bars participate in the London Cocktail Week which is held every year in October.

Once you obtain your London Cocktail Week wristband you then have free entry into many bars, restaurants and even clubs that participate in the event, who have created a unique drink for the event for only £4 a cocktail.

All the bars are mapped in a guidebook that is issued along with the wristband with details about the offers. If you were to do all the bars listed in guide over the course of the week-long event would mean a whopping 35 cocktails a day to complete the list!

It all starts in London‘s Seven Dials shopping area where you collect your wristband from the Ketel One Hub on 9 Earlam Street, and your first cocktail to taste, a Momo’ Sassy Punch or Phil’s Nitro Punch as the choices this year (2014). Then your off to begin your personal tour as you hop along the streets and neighbourhoods in search of more unique and interesting venues and drinks.

I’ve made a list of the venues we attended and the drinks we had:

Earlham Street Clubhouse

White House – Bourbon and Cointreau with lemon juice, sugar and fresh egg white garnished with a cherry

Flesh and Buns

Hokuto Sour – Japanese whisky, yuzu sake, fresh egg white, chocolate bitters and twist of lemon

Adventure Bar

The Appleton Dreamcatcher – rum, black raspberry liqueur, vanilla, apple and passionfruit with fortune cookie on the side

Opium

Down to the Baijiu – Baijiu, oolong tea-infused vodka, fresh lemon and pomegranate juice and almond syrup

Carom

Kill Jim – tequila swizzle with fresh chilli, chocolate liqueur, velvet falernum and freshly-squeezed lime juice

Be At One

Sherbert – Absolut Cherry Vodka and citric syrup served in martini glass

Whyte & Brown

Whyte Wine Spritz – white wine, rhubarb bitters, rose lemonade, mint and lemon zest

This was just over a day but spread out so none of us fell flat, and dining to ensure it wasn’t just a liquid day out. It makes a great day and found places I would be willing to return to, it also allows to explore places in London that I would not have known about before.
