TRANSPORT FAILS LONDON
TRANSPORT FAILS LONDON
2009
You have a better chance of arriving in southern Europe on a flight from Heathrow than arriving in zone 2 of the London Underground in the same amount of time.
Transport for London efficiency still amazes me. After taking buses as my main form of transport for the past two years having to use the London Underground again really enforces my reasons for abandoning this service in the first place.
Today was particularly different, having been stuck in the underground between stations for approximately 30 minutes before the driver indicated we would have to reverse and return to the previous station, then move from carriage to carriage and into another train so we could exit the underground to was a complete lack of order.
A moment of panic passes as people lifted from their seats and moved along toward the exit, half hour later realising that the only way out was walking out through another parked train at the platform. The whole transport line completely stopped with ‘minor delays’ reported on its website.
What should have been a 45 minute journey home took just over two hours, the same amount of time it could have taken me to fly to Barcelona.
Transport for London is on a continual ‘improvement’ program to bring it into the future with billions pumped into keeping it running. I cannot imagine that TFL will ever get it up to the standards to consider it efficient, and London’s Olympic Games 2012 will certainly be something to watch.. if you can ever get there.
Transport for London... more like Transport Fails London, again. Guaranteed.
Service announcements for TFL.
